Hello Everyone,

Our speaker tomorrow is Debbie Braff.  This should be a very interesting presentation on a B52 Bomber crash in Kayenta, Az on Oct 16, 1984. The crash has ties to Farmington!  Want to hear the rest of the story? You’ll have the opportunity when you join us tomorrow.

Board Meeting tomorrow, immediately following the regular meeting.

Tomorrow evening is the Business After Hours, from 6-8pm to kick-off Four Corners 4×4 Week at Ultimate Performance UTV

2610 E. Main. Food, drinks, Cash Bar, Raffle prizes and giveaways.

Thank you to our speaker last week, Megan Cullip, a key member for the 100% San Juan Initiative.  After listening to Sonnie’s presentation the week prior, it was a great connection with Megan’s information with the new project of the Community Compass Center, a collaborative effort between PMS, San Juan County and local partners. The innovative One-Stop Family Resource Center aims to revolutionize access to essential services in the community. They are doing so much to transform lives and strengthen the fabric of SJ County.

Thank you to our wonderful guests that came last week!

Kiwanis Annual Summer Social  – Plan to attend this relaxing evening gathering. Delicious food from Outback Steakhouse and Clancy’s Cantina and Musical Entertainment will be provided. It’s not only a great thank-you to all our members who worked so hard at DWD, but an excellent time to bring guests who might be thinking of joining our organization.

6pm at Summer’s House-5511 Country Club Dr.

Fran Mayfield, Social Chairman

Congratulations to DI for winning the card game two weeks ago! The total in the pot was $192.  Her share was $96, which she donated to Shoes for Kids. Thank you Di!

Saturday, Sept 7 is Kiwanis 11th Annual Dining With the Dead and has sold out in advance all 11 years! Many thanks to all our actors, guides, and volunteers who help make it such a successful event. Paul and Jill saw it done in Yuma in 2013 and brought the idea back. Kiwanis was just forming so they asked club members if they wanted to take on the program and the answer was Yes.

Farmington had never had anything like Dining With the Dead and it instantly became a great success. We feel the program is a gift to our community as it keeps our early settlers’ stories alive. Our community loves Dining With the Dead and anxiously await tickets to go on sale each year.

Dues are Due!;)

Individual: $175

Bronze: $235

Platinum: $685

If you have a speaker you’d like to schedule for Kiwanis, look at the Calendar of Events to see what dates are open. Confirm with Jill that date is available and book them. Your interest is appreciated.

Please keep these upcoming dates in mind.

We are expecting a Kiwanis full house with several guests attending on September 12th for Author Ann Hillerman’s presentation.

As a special favor would each of you respond to Jill if you plan to attend and if you are inviting guests who will attend with you.  We’ve never had a famous author speak at our meeting and we want to make sure members have a seat. Also, Alycia with No Worries, said she would need to set the room up a special way to accommodate a large group. Amy, with Amy’s bookstore, will have a table selling Ann’s books if anyone would like to purchase one or more. Ann is Tony Hillerman’s daughter. Alycia also mentioned advance lunch orders would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Gary Hansen for arranging for Ann Hillerman to speak to Kiwanis. Jill: jmcq2@yahoo.com
