Hello Everyone,
CONGRATULATIONS RIO DEL SOL KIWANIS! We are that largest Kiwanis Club in our Division-this includes Albuquerque. The Corrales Club is in 2nd Place. This tidbit of information came from Maple Levine, our Lt. Governor.
Tomorrow should be a fun and interesting meeting. Sarah Kaynor, President of the SJRMC Auxillary and Theresa Becker are our speakers. This is a non-profit whose mission is to support SJRMC through scholarships and minor equipment purchases. They also provide comfort and respite to patients, families and staff through the Pet Therapy Program. And Bodie is coming with them! He is a golden retriever and a great therapy dog. Come and meet him and see how he works.
Last week Neilson Francisco, Site Director for the San Juan County Site of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico was our speaker. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the county. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people. Their annual fundraiser ‘Bowl for Kids Sake’ is coming in June.
Beth DiGiacamo, married to our past present, Tony, is interested in becoming a Kiwanis member. Beth and Tony will both be program presenters on June 5.
Sturdy Sturdevant also attended recent meetings. Sturdy has submitted his application for membership. He said the API Golf Tournament Scholarship Program has money available for graduating seniors. For qualifying seniors, it pays $1500 a quarter for 4 years of college.
Riverfest needs lots of volunteers to make this event so successful year after year, 39th Year. If you would like to volunteer and get a free t-shirt please click the following link
