Hello Everyone,
Nate Duckett, Mayor of Farmington is Thursday’s speaker.
He will be joining us to provide an update on an array of city projects including Pinon Hills Extension and Boundless other information. Nate first entered politics in 2014 when he ran for City Council and then was elected Mayor in 2018.
Party Theme Bunco Fundraiser next May 15 at The Elks Lodge. Everyone will have a blast at this fast moving fun game while helping raise money to support Kiwanis Coats for Kids, Shoes for Kids, and Clothes for Kids. Lori Monteverdi, Jareen White, Bernadette Alarid and Jill McQueary are on the steering committee. We have great plans for food, music, a humorous MC, sponsor recognition. More information will be given as this moves along. At any time, ask any of us if you have questions. We’d love to have your help in several areas so let one of us know if you’re interested. Currently table sponsors, silent auction items, and raffle items are needed.
Partial shipment of coats we’ve received so far for Coats for Kids, expecting more soon!
Coats for Kids is just around the corner! The dates are Wednesday and Thursday, Nov 5 and 6 at Animas Valley Mall, immediately following Clothes for Kids. Brian is expecting over 400 students. Also, many thanks to Lori Monteverdi for being Brian’s right hand woman. Brian Turner with Morgan Stanley recently was awarded $2,000 for Kiwanis Coats for Kids. Thank you Brian for all your work to help hundreds of children stay warm this winter!
Wow! Another Kiwanis member, Jareen White, Kiwanis Treasurer, is running for a School Board position in District 5! Don’t forget to Vote November 4, 2025.
Dining With the Dead actors went to The Bridge Tuesday, Oct 21 to entertain the residents. Many Thanks to Ron Price, Shelly Diede, Joan Monninger and Nikki Taylor.
Clothes for Kids- volunteer sign up sheets are available at each meeting, This event takes 50 to 60 volunteers for each evening of shopping on Nov 5 and 6. If your company sends employees to help, encourage them to wear their logoed company shirts. Bob Brooks is Chair.
Oct 25-The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Juan County are partnering to present the 4th Annual Great Futures Ride (Street & Dirt. All proceeds for the 1-day event provide scholarships to families in need of financial assistance to ensure their kids can attend the Clubs free of charge.
