Hello Everyone,

Mike LewisFarmington Airport Manager is our speaker tomorrow. Mike will give us the latest information on Farmington’s new airline serving our community.

Last week was our Valentine Special when the Barbershop Quartet performed at the luncheon. They brought more than a Quartet, they brought 10!  An enjoyable time was had by all.

February Monthly Board Meeting was held immediately following the luncheon meeting last Thursday. Some notes from the meeting: President Nikki said she has spoken to Susan Flurry with the Triple J Ranch and she would like to work with Kiwanis to hold the 2nnd Annual Forks and Corks For Friends at the Ranch. Nikki will get with Susan about a date. The Ranch setting should be a perfect location for this fun fundraiser.

Also discussed at the Board Meeting: A Chamber of Commerce Business to Business Expo will be held at Farmington Civic Center on Friday, April 4.  The Board voted for Kiwanis to have a booth at the Expo, as most of the people attending are businessmen and women.  Nikki and Jill have volunteered to help in booth but more volunteers are needed, let either of them know if you want to volunteer for a few hours. Hours are 9am to 1pm.

Kiwanis has a new local Artist, Mike Foster! Mike enjoys blending lines, shapes and colors into abstract compositions. He was a history professor, then later the executive director of The Denver Foundation.  There will be an Art Reception at Connect Space- 203 W Main on Friday, March 7 5 to 7pm. He will also be featured during the April 4 Art Walk from 5 to 8PM. Come out and see his work!

Club Elections-are April 17.  If you are interested in serving in one of these positions, please let President Nikki or Jill-Secretary know.

I came across this info in an email from Kiwanis International:

THE IMPORTANCE OF ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP CHILDREN

Investing in the Future Kiwanis clubs seek to make the world a better place by focusing on improving the lives of children. The efforts of Kiwanis are beneficial for several reasons.

Providing a unifying goal. Just about everyone can agree that children deserve to live safe, happy, comfortable lives.

Strengthening community by setting an example. Many experts agree that volunteering and giving to charity can have a positive impact on your own health and well-being.

Kiwanis is a member of Visit Farmington (Farmington Visitors and Convention Center).  Visit Farmington’s annual meeting is April 29 at Farmington Civic Center.  This is a fun breakfast event to attend. There is no charge but reservations are required. If you’d like to attend, email me and I’ll be happy to make yours when I make mine.  Tonya is our speaker next week and she can answer your questions.
