Hello Everyone,
Seth Bingham is our speaker tomorrow. Each September, communities across the nation organize and hold a 9/11 Day of Service to remember and honor the brave First Responders who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Farmington 9/11 Committee selects projects that serve community residents, non-profit organizations, etc and then recruits volunteers to serve on those projects.
CLUB MEMBER NEWS
Many Thanks to Tana McCall for agreeing to take over speakers beginning Sept 30. Emmeri with United Way and Ron Price have offered their help and for that I’m very grateful. I’ve let Tana know that if it is a slow time getting speakers, an option would be to ask members sign up to arrange speakers for one month at a time. Tana works at Hutton Broadcasting and knows a lot of people. I will continue to keep the speaker list til end of September and then turn it over to Tana.
Susan Zint is running for Membership Director beginning Oct 1. Kathy announced it last week. After 2 weeks, Susan can be voted on.
Membership is everyone’s responsibility if our club is to remain strong. Invite a friend to join you at the next luncheon.
Facebook is super important. It lets the community know what Kiwanis does for our children and also shares info about our speakers, programs and events. This person would commit to dedicating time to make at least 1 to 2 posts each week. Ed Kompare is great to take speaker pictures each week and post them on FB. I then share on my FB page (I have over 800 Friends)—all close and personal! haha

Information on Terri Lee: Terri had surgery in May and it appeared to go well until she developed an infection. She recently spent a week in the hospital and is still recovery. Please keep her in your prayers.
Dining With the Dead —Bob Brooks is in charge of food for our event. Bryan Myers , Chelsey Mahoney have offered to help him and Anita. Last week someone at the meeting also offered so if it was you, please contact me. I wrote it down but notes are not with me. My apologies!
What an unbelievable real life story of Joe Kieyoomia, portrayed by Cordell Jones, in Dining With the Dead on Sept 12. Joe was assigned to the Coastal Artillery and sent to Manilla in Sept of 1941. He was captured by the Japanese , survived the Bataan Death March, and survived daily beatings. They tried to force him to interpret the Navajo Code, he knew the words but not the meaning. He was a prisoner in Nagasaki when the atomic bomb went off.
Laykenn with Faith Works Counseling has pushed the date back. They are excited to host their first Back to School Clothing & Supply Swap on Aug 15 from 10am to 2pm. They are looking for community vendors at no charge if anyone is willing to have a Kiwanis table. They are still accepting donations so take them by 221 N. Auburn or bring to a club meeting and give to Laykenn.
Consider inviting a Friend to join you at Kiwanis and share with them what Kiwanis does for the children in our community!
