A big thank you to Sheriff Shane Ferrari for presenting to us last week. Shane told us The Sheriff’s Department now has three Captains, and three divisions, Investigation, Administrative, and Patrol. He also has a new Region II Narcotics agent. Shane said all officers in the Sheriff’s Department wear body cameras. Shane also said he is experiencing labor shortages and is down, 24 deputies. Shane said he received 3.1 million dollars and has three years to use it. His number one priority is to get fully staffed. He spoke of the humanitarian and national security problem at the border. Shane said 95%of the fentanyl coming into America is coming from Mexico. He said in 2022 we had 2.1 million people contacted by border patrol, identified, and released in the United States. He said over the last two years one million undocumented people have entered the United States, which are likely cartel bringing drugs into America. Right now the cartel intercepts unidentified illegals crossing the border and charges $6500 for a Mexican, $12,000 for a South American, and $22,000 for a Chinese, India, or anyone from Europe, to cross the border. Shane had much more information and we love listening to him. Thank you for your outstanding presentation.
