Hello Everyone,
Tomorrow we have a really fun program planned for you. A couple of years back we did a similar program and members have been requesting we do it again! Debbie Fentiman offered to head up ‘Who’s Telling the Truth?’ After you hear the panelist’s stories, you decide who’s telling the truth or is it a lie? Our panel consists of Debbie, D’Ann and Nikki. Oh! And there will be prizes!
Many thanks to own Laykenn Kennedy for her informative program last week about the high number of drug overdoses in New Mexico and the opioids and other psychotropic drugs that contribute to overdoses. Laykenn is a licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor with Faith Works.
Monthly Board Meeting tomorrow immediately following the regular meeting.
Brian sent an email stating that Farmington High and S J County Offices had coats to pick up. Debbie Klein offered to get coats in Aztec and take to Brian’s office. Mike Foster offered to get coats at Farmington Hi but it appears someone picked those up. Maybe more news at tomorrow’s meeting.
Update! Special Message from Brian Turner, Chair for Coats for Kids.
Thank you for everyone’s support for our coats for kids program this year. We had a wonderful time at the Animas Valley Mall and special thank you to them giving us a store front! We were able to hand out 374 warm coats this year to kids in our local community. We actually ran out of several sizes this year, especially for boys, but we will need a lot of coats or donations to buy more coats for next year. We have only 18 boys coats left that we will carry over! Again thank you to everyone that helped and look forward to next year!!
We sure appreciate all the volunteers who braved the cold and came out to help with Kiwanis Clothes for Kids last Wednesday and Thursday evening. And to everyone who helped with Coats for Kids the same two evenings last week.
Lori Monteverdi submitted her application for membership and has been approved by the Board. She will be inducted at her earliest convenience. Lori’s sponsor is Jill
Would you like to earn a new Kiwanis pin? When you bring in 5 new members you are eligible for a Ruby Award pin. Simply keep up with how many members you’ve brought in and then let the Membership chair or Club Secretary knows so your pin can be ordered and awarded to you.
Another Volunteer Opportunity!! If you’re in the Holiday Spirit and would like to volunteer to ring the bell for the Salvation Army, please contact Lt. Christopher Rockwell. It’s more fun with a friend or family member.
SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS
This year the Salvation Army is introducing “Register To Ring” as a way to manage volunteers; it features scheduling either as an individual or 2 or more. You can then select the location, date, and time when you want to volunteer. Simply scan the QR code and viola! You are ready to select your day and time that works for you to ring a bell. You can even bring your child to volunteer with you. The Salvation Army needs your help so please volunteer if you can. For information email:
