Hello Everyone,

Our speaker tomorrow is Megan Cullip, a key member for the 100% San Juan Initiative.  She will introduce an exciting new project of the Community Compass Center, a collaborative effort between PMS, San Juan County and local partners. This innovative One-Stop Family Resource Center aims to revolutionize access to essential services in the community. She will discuss how this has the potential to transform lives and strengthen the fabric of SJ County.

Tomorrow evening is the Chamber Business After Hours at Basin Home Health.  200 N. Orchard. Music by Zia Chicks.  $5 entry.  Food Trucks, Games, Cash bar by Clancy’s, bring cash for Chicken#!+ Bingo!*  Kiwanis is a Chamber member so come out and meet new friends.  5 to 8pm

Thank you to our speaker last week, Sonnie Rodriquez.   Her story about her Leadership project was truly entrepreneurial.  Her group created new resources at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center (SJCADC): a resource wall near the front of the main entrance/exit of the Detention Center, an exit/release video that individuals can watch when leaving SJCADA, and a phone charging station. Often when individuals are released, they become lost and overwhelmed. Since these creations, the detention center has also added a phone for those being released, if needed.  Their group did some remarkable things!

Thank you to our wonderful guests that came last week!

Congratulations to DI for winning the card game last week!

If you have a speaker you’d like to schedule for Kiwanis, look at the Calendar of Events to see what dates are open. Confirm with Jill that date is available and book them. Your interest is appreciated.

Please keep these upcoming dates in mind.

We are expecting a Kiwanis full house with several guests attending on September 12th for Author Ann Hillerman’s presentation.

As a special favor would each of you respond to Jill if you plan to attend and if you are inviting guests who will attend with you.  We’ve never had a famous author speak at our meeting and we want to make sure members have a seat. Also, Alycia with No Worries, said she would need to set the room up a special way to accommodate a large group. Amy, with Amy’s bookstore, will have a table selling Ann’s books if anyone would like to purchase one or more. Ann is Tony Hillerman’s daughter. Alycia also mentioned advance lunch orders would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Gary Hansen for arranging for Ann Hillerman to speak to Kiwanis. Jill: jmcq2@yahoo.com
