Hello Everyone,
Shana Reeves, Farmington City Manager, is Kiwanis speaker tomorrow. Shaña brings more than 22 years of municipal leadership experience with the City of Farmington.
She will speak on her background, the path that led to her appointment as City Manager, and several key projects and initiatives currently underway. Don’t miss this interesting presentation. Shana is also an Honorary Kiwanis Member.
GOOD NEWS!! For those of you who may not have read Monday’s edition of the Tri City Newspaper, the 4 Candidates running for Sheriff were announcing their platforms was the paper’s headline. It was a wonderful surprise and,,,,, the paper used the photos that Ed Kompare took. (he might be on his way to becoming almost famous)
April 16-Check out the great volunteers who put stickers in over 700 books in 45 minutes! (this might be a record?)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: There are a handful of Key Club students who want to attend the International Convention in Dallas this summer (June 29th-July 5th). Unfortunately, neither Jordan(FHS) nor Sarah(Aztec HS) can attend. This would not be a “school-sponsored” trip, as the students would be attending on their own and responsible for their own funding.
Kiwanis provides chaperones for individuals and small groups once they arrive. Flights from Durango only go to Dallas/Ft Worth, not Lovefield, which is where the District Key Clubbers fly into.
Sarah Blake (Aztec Key Club) would feel more comfortable if she knew an adult was with these kids.
She’s reaching out to see if there is a Kiwanian who might want to travel with the students and attend ICON as their chaperone. The cost would be $1170 plus airfare (around $485 with a discounted rate). Registration is due May 4th. You can contact her at:
sarahblake@aztecschools.com
A Bit of News about Club Members:
Lela Holmes recently lost her sister, please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Bernadette Alarid will be having surgery on May 30 on her right shoulder.
Sturdy recently took a sales position job with San Juan Marine.
