Our special guest at the 5/14 meeting was John Blais, Publisher of the TriCity Record. He recently moved to Durango from Chicago after working in that city’s newspapers.

The TCR is owned by the Ballantine Communications Media Company which also owns the Durango Herald and The Journal. The TCR has assumed the role formerly held by the Daily Times and serves primarily Farmington, Aztec , Bloomfield and the surrounding area. It has a locally staffed office in Farmington. Reporter Debra Mayeux has recently won a national award for her reporting, as well as state recognition. The TCR serves 148 thousand visitors in its print and online editions.

The paper will be offering audio articles in the near future and is utilizing AI in its evolution to modernize its operation. No original articles are written or plan to be written by AI.
