Hello Everyone,
John Blais, Publisher of the Tri-City Record in Farmington and Durango. He’ll tell us how the role of media in the four corners and the nation is changing.
The Tri-City Record has become the successor publication to The Daily Times. The news, features and advertising have been merged into one great newspaper. Although the name of The Daily Times changed to the Tri-City Record, the newspaper will remain the publication of record in San Juan County, continuing the legacy that began in the late 1800s.
Thank You to Nikki Taylor for bringing cupcakes to Thursday’s meeting to celebrate our Kiwanis Club turning 13 years old. We chartered on May 5, 2013 with 31 members. Our first meeting place was My Big Fat Greek Restaurant.
Cody Cornoyer and Kiwanis volunteers distributed 750 Scholastic books to students attending Animas Elementary last week.
Lots of happy faces as students selected their 2 books! to take home! Thanks to Di Searle, Debbie Klein and Nikki Taylor for helping the children with their selections!

Kiwanis Bunco Party is Friday! Plans are all set. We are expecting 175 people to attend. Food is ordered. Lots of Door Prizes and raffle items. Interesting silent auction items. This wonderful fundraiser is an idea that we took from the Kiwanis Club of Sierra Vista and they have helped guide us along the way with valuable information.
Ron Price is the MC. Event should be loads of fun and we look forward to lots of laughs and positive feedback.
PLEASE HELP: SET UP BUNCO AT THE ELKS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING TOMORROW’S MEETING. ARRANGE TABLES, PUT TABLE CLOTHS ON, TABLE SPONSORS NAMES, BANNERS, ETC.
WE ALSO ASK FOR HELP AFTER EVENT FRIDAY NIGHT, SHOULDN’T TAKE LONG TO MOVE TABLES.
VOLUNTEERING
It puts your hands in something real.
It reminds you that you are part of a community that still needs you and is better because you showed up.
PERSONAL NOTE FROM JILL: I just have to comment on how amazed I am at our speaker’s forum. We’re booked until Sept 3, when we have the next available opening, and we’re just in May! People want to present to our club meetings.
Reminders & Announcements:
Invite a friend or colleague to join you at a Kiwanis luncheon.
