Hello Everyone,

Our speaker tomorrow is Virginia Nickles.  She is the Director of Caliente Community Chorus.  Her presentation and slide show will be on her 8 day trek to the base camp of Mt. Everest including the week before and afterwards.  Mt. Everest is in the Himalayan Mountain range between Nepal and Tibet.  It is considered the tallest point on earth.

Thank you to our speaker last week, MaryAnne Reidy.  She is the NM Coordinator for the Jared Box Project. Jared was a little boy in Pennsylvania that had an aggressive form of brain cancer.  He always took toys with him to his treatment appointments.  Sadly, he lost his battle to cancer, but his legacy lives on in the form of Jared Boxes.

 A Jared Box is a plastic shoebox filled with small gifts, games, crayons, coloring books and other fun activities. These Boxes are given to children in the hospital to provide a special, fun diversion.  The boxes calm nerves, lift spirits and show the children that someone cares. The boxes symbolize the importance of play and are filled with well wishes, hope and love.   It was so great to hear about the growth in this area and NM and the potential.  There are so many ways to get involved and we appreciate Mary Anne’s time.
