Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone!  Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends!

Our speaker tomorrow is Ken MacAdams- he is a freelance travel and adventure photojournalist. Growing up with a darkroom in his basement, Ken learned film skills early on. His latest trip was to New Zealand; he’ll be taking the group on a tour of both the North and South islands of New Zealand.  Each island has its own personality, majesty, and linked culture.

I’ll be taking the group on a tour of both the North and South islands of New Zealand.  Each island has its own personality, majesty, and linked culture.

Last week Eleana Butler, Executive Director of Sexual Assault Services of New Mexico, gave an informed presentation of the many services available for sexual assault victims and the efforts of the organization in sexual assault prevention in schools and other settings.

She also noted the upcoming fundraiser for the group at Artifacts 302 on December 12, 6:30 – 9:30 PM, Martini’s and Mistletoe.

Well, doggone it; our club has fallen to the #2 from #1 spot in membership growth (in the SW District) out of 82 clubs. We’ve consistently been in either first or second place almost all of the time,    We’re still proud of this position.

Farmington Local News recently contacted us; they wanted to do a story about Kiwanis and our many children’s projects. Sadie Smith interviewed Nikki and Jill provided pictures. I hope everyone took a couple of minutes and watched the video sent last week as it was really good.

Salvation Army Angel Tree tags are still available if anyone would like to adopt a child for Christmas.  Please contact Nikki for more information:  Nicolecourtney@gmail.com

We received two invitations to attend NTEC’s annual grant luncheon at SJ Country Club on Dec 4.  Attending for Clothes & Shoes for Kids are Bob Brooks and D’Ann Waters. Attending for Don’t Meth With Us are Laykenn Kennedy and Allen Elmore.  (DMWU is a 501c3 but partners with Kiwanis).

Kiwanis is sponsoring the PMS Festival of Trees Teddy Bear Storytime on Dec 5 from 9am to 10am.  Summer has 5 tickets available. If you’d like to have them, email her at: summer.jakino@pmsnm.org

Congratulations to our newest member, Susan Furry, she is the owner of Triple J Ranch.  We are so excited to have Susan join us as a Bronze Member. She is sponsored by Paul McQueary.

Lori Monteverdi has submitted her application for membership and has been approved by the Board. She will be inducted as her earliest convenience. Her sponsor is Jill.

Bring in 5 new members you are eligible for a Ruby Award pin. Simply keep up with how many members you’ve brought in and then let the Membership chair or Club Secretary knows so your pin can be ordered and awarded to you.

Another Volunteer Opportunity!!  If you’re in the Holiday Spirit and would like to volunteer to ring the bell for the Salvation Army, please contact Lt. Christopher Rockwell. It’s more fun with a friend or family member.
