Hello Everyone,

Audra Winters, Executive Director for the San Juan Medical Foundation, is Kiwanis speaker Thursday noon at No Worries. We serve alongside San Juan Regional Medical Center to meet the community’s healthcare needs and goals. The foundation administers two patient support funds, the Cathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund and the Riley Men’s Health Fund. The foundation also owns and operates the Connelly Hospitality House, a home away from home for cancer patients.

CLUB MEMBER NEWS

Update on Membership Director: Emmeri Ortega has offered to head up membership. Kathy will announce tomorrow. Our club is notified 2 weeks in advance of election. Emmeri’s 2 year term will begin Sept 24 at Changing of the Guard. This position will be a good fit for Emmeri as she’s with United Way and has contacts with the community.

Membership is everyone’s responsibility if our club is to remain strong. Consider Inviting a friend to join you at the next luncheon.

Facebook is super important. Does anyone have a desire to work with Facebook. This person should commit to dedicating making 1 to 2 posts each week. Ed Kompare is great to take speaker pictures each week and post them on FB. He’s still waiting on his big break in the magazine world for photography!

Dining With the Dead —Tickets are selling quickly, only about 44 left. If you know anyone planning to attend, please encourage them to get tickets soon. We should sell out a couple of weeks early.

Gracia Lena Waggoner is portrayed by Shelly Diede in Dining with the Dead on Sept 12. in historical Greenlawn Cemetery. Gracia was born in 1884 in the Dakota Territory. Her family moved to Flora Vista and at the age of 15, she and her 36 year old neighbor were married by the Reverend Hugh Griffin. Hers is a story of a true pioneer woman and one of the few people who survived the Spanish Flu.
