Sherriff Shane Ferrari
Guest Speaker

Our special guest for the 10/08 meeting was Sheriff Shane Ferrari. He gave a history and evolution of the San Juan territory into San Juan County in 1887. These times were fraught by the murderous Ike and Porter Stockton and the George Coe gangs. The first sheriff was Dan Sullivan; Sheriff Ferrri is the 37th.

He gave a synopsis of the major events and advancements that have occurred during his time, such as: the post covid loss of deputies, the multi-agency shutdown of a huge illegal marijuana farm near Shiprock , numerous technical advances to help track down and apprehend criminals, more cooperative actions with the Navajo Police and better actions and personnel to interact with mental health crises.
